This photo was a fortunate sequence of events and very special to me: a cruise ship, fishing boat, the sunrise, the beautiful clouds, and a person (with reflection in the sand) walking on the beach ... all at the same time! The cruise ship was heading back to Port Canaveral, near Cape Canaveral Florida. I was at Cape Canaveral for the launch of the University of Arizona Phoenix Mars Mission. This picture reminds me of the peace, pleasure, and euphoria I felt after the successful launch of Phoenix earlier that morning, and the wonderful memorable week I had at the Kennedy Space Center. This picture will be a memory of mine for many years to come. I am very blessed and fortunate to have experienced this moment, and look forward to the successful landing of Phoenix on the surface of Mars in May 2008.
