This bashful young fan was among the many who paid floral homage to their country music hero, George Strait, when he performed at the Tucson Convention Center Arena on Oct. 8, 1992. More than 8,600 people attended the concert and according to the Star review, they did not leave disappointed. "Strait," the review said, "certainly cuts a striking figure. He's tall, solidly built and has that compact cowboy's butt that drives women and girls to fits of ecstasy with its most modest twitch." Possibly that explains the volume level of the screaming, which apparently reached Beatles-like levels. Strait's 90-minute show was "a honky-tonk fan's delight" and included most of his popular ballads. Country-rock singer Holly Dunn opened the show.
