That was not just any cowboy saddled up at Old Tucson on Oct. 14, 1982, that was one of the Cowboys. Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry was passing the time during the National Football League's players' strike by filming an American Express commercial in Tucson. In the 30-second spot, Landry hitched his horse to a post, sauntered down a wooden sidewalk and uttered the memorable line, "A lot of people don't recognize me in this cowboy hat. That's why I carry the American Express card."
