A horse is a horse, of course, but Brusally Gwiazlat was now a champion. Although he had a great personality, he had been considered an ugly ducking at birth and had been a hard sell at his first auction. Soon, though, his winning ways began to emerge after he was purchased by Bill and Millie Anderson. With trainer Natalie Gerner, the Andersons began training and showing him and Brusally Gwiazlat started winning. On Oct. 15, 1977, Gwiazlat was presented with yet another award, the Arabian Horse Association's Legion of Merit for excellence in performance and confirmation. Led by his trainer, the horse showed off his award-winning form at a party in his honor held by the Old Pueblo Horse Show. He dined on a nip of cake and a little champagne, as well as plenty of carrots.
