More than 1,500 well-dressed baby boomers turned out on Oct. 21, 1987, for a night of classic memories provided by two of the most successful pop groups of the 1970s, Three Dog Night and America. The concert, held at Centennial Hall at the University of Arizona, received a mixed review. Three Dog Night's Danny Hutton and Cory Wells wore "atrocious MTV-style threads." They gave the concert a "cheesy tone as they dropped names, dedicated tribute songs and cavorted like hosts at a telethon." But Brad Palmer, left, and Dewey Bunnell of America "brought new life to their old material." They performed such hits as "Tin Man," "Ventura Highway" and "Horse With No Name" as "still-changing entities, not as relics, as did Three Dog Night."
