Tucson Time Capsule: Bud leads to painful monkeyshines
Published: 11.06.2007
JOSE GALVEZ/ARIZONA DAILY STAR 1972
Residents of the Country Club Trailer Resort, 2627 E. Benson Highway, may have thought they were doing a good deed when they adopted Samantha as a non-paying guest. Her age and origin were unknown. She would swing through the trees and eat whatever hand-outs the residents would leave for her. It must have felt like monkey heaven to her on Nov. 6, 1972, the day when someone left a can of beer unguarded for a moment. The good life ended when residents noticed her behavior had changed and she bit a young boy. Samantha was captured and became a guest of the Pima County Rabies Control Center.
