As a child I remember eating these cookies at our Swedish Christmas parties. I have not had one in 50 years. Do you give out your recipe?

Marleen M. - 49 weeks ago

The recipe of gingerbread cookies:

1,5 dl golden suryp (sirap)Maybe you call this molasses?
3 dl sugar
200 gram butter
1,5 dl whipped cream
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 tablespoon cloves
1/2 tablespoon cardamom
1 tablespoon baking soda
10 dl flour

Pour golden surup, sugar and butter in a
saucepan. Warm to the sugar and butter melts.

Add the cream and the spices. Stir. Then add the baking soda and the flour. Stir again. Let the dought rest over the night.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Use a gingerbread cutter to cut out the cookies.

200 degrees celsius in oven . 8-12 minutes or when you see they are ready.

I´m sorry I can´t translate the swedish deciliter (dl) for you and I dont know the degrees in the owen. In Sweden we use the celsius and I don´t know what it is in fahrenheit. I hope you know, or anybody else here.

Have a Merry Christmas Marleen, And I hope you can make this cookis. Good Luck!

Oh my Paola, Thank you very much. My in-laws were from the Mora/Darlena area on Lake Silon (spelling ?). I loved all the trees in Sweden, quite a contrast from Tucson.

Marleen M. - 49 weeks ago

Hi, Marleen. I have been in Mora in the landscape Dalarna of Sweden. It´s a beautiful place. This summer we were in Rättvik, Dalarna nearby the Lake Siljan. Not so long from Mora. In Dalarna they made the wooden horses named "Dalahästar". They make them in the small village named Nusnäs. Check this link: www.grannas.com But maybe you were there when you visited Sweden? And if you want to
read about Siljan check this link: www.siljan.se
Take care,
Paola.
