JOE PATRONITE / ARIZONA DAILY STAR 1982 Even at age 82, legendary actress Lillian Gish was beautiful as well as spunky. Gish made her film debut in a 1912 in D.W. Griffith's movie "An Unseen Enemy." She was also in his 1915 classic "Birth of a Nation" as well as more than 100 other films during her long career. Gish was in Tucson on Nov. 20, 1982, for the dedication of the Green Fields Country Day School's new performing arts center. During the Star's interview, Gish, the consummate actress, pleasantly instructed the photographer not to use too much artificial light and to be sure the camera angle was pointed up. She died in February 1993, at the age of 99.
