It had been more than seven years since Linda Ronstadt, who grew up in Tucson, performed before her hometown fans. But on Feb. 12, 1988, she thrilled a capacity crowd at Centennial Hall. Ronstadt, who did not sing her '70s Top 40 hit songs, performed entirely in Spanish. Appearing with Mariachi Vargas de Tecálitlan, she also sang duets with her sister and her two brothers. The show was described by the reviewer as "no mere concert, this was a fiesta — a heartfelt, rambunctious, absolutely gorgeous celebration of Old Mexico."
