The sixth Tucson neighborhood to be added to the National Register of Historic Places was El Encanto Estates, which was founded in 1928. Although the neighborhood had many prominent residents and architecturally significant homes, it was the layout and landscaping that won the recognition in 1988. The area around Calle Primorosa was photographed on April 14, 1988. The neighborhood, bounded by East Fifth Street, East Broadway, North Country Club Road and North Jones Boulevard, was the first to abandon Tucson's normal "grid" pattern of development.
