Tucsonans have always loved University of Arizona basketball guard Steve Kerr, and during his Wildcat years here, he would often make appearances at schools and fundraisers. His autograph was a prized commodity. But just how much would local fans shell out for his autographed bed? Well, on April 28, 1988, Kerr took the first step toward finding out. He signed the full-size bed that he had leased from a local furniture-rental company. The bed would be auctioned off at a Tucson Toros game, with the proceeds going to the Arizona Children's Home. But the bidding was a bit slow on auction night; the bed, along with a signed basketball, brought in only $220.
