Taken last week in my "outer" yard. While taking a closeup of a cholla blossom, a dove surprised me - flying up out of the cactus. I looked around & found a nest just a foot or so away & further into the cactus & up almost out of sight. Raised the camera above my head, angling it down about 45 degrees, squeezed in as close as I safely could without getting stuck or getting too close to the nest itself, and took several, hoping at least one would come out. Note how the sun happened to be shining down on them at that moment - pure coincidence, but added a nice touch, I thought....
