Great shot Marcia! We have those birds in Sweden too, we call them "Gråsparvar" (grey sparrows actually).

We imigrants just love the desert!

Another example of an introduced species competing with the natives for food. That is one reason it's open season year round on these birds.

Yes, I think these are "house sparrows"--which back East were demons with regard to my bluebird boxes. It's hard to be harsh on any species, though....
