Arizona assistant softball coach Larry Ray was true to his word, although he did admit "I kind of hoped they had forgotten about this." Ray had promised to shave his head if the Wildcats won the national championship. The team came through and beat Cal State-Northridge, 4-0, at the College World Series in Oklahoma City. During a victory celebration back in Tucson on May 31, 1994, the players took turns wielding the clippers that would give Ray his new "chrome dome."
