Photo Rating:

JOE PATRONITE / ARIZONA DAILY STAR 1979
It may have looked like an ordinary military version of a DC-6 on Oct. 5, 1979, but this plane had previously served at the pleasure of two presidents of the United States. Both John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson had used this aircraft when it was known as Air Force One. The Pima Air & Space Museum had saved the plane from destruction and painstakingly restored the interior, as much as possible, to its original condition. It was hoped funds could be raised to repaint the plane's exterior presidential markings.
