When Jimmy Fowler pulled into Tucson on June 27, 1972, he had North Carolina in the rearview mirror and fame and fortune straight ahead. Fowler, aka Supernut, was on his way to Hollywood where he planned to write, produce and star in a television series, a comedy takeoff on Batman and James Bond to be called "Supernut." The co-star of the show was going to be Fowler's custom-equipped warmobile. This 1967 Cadillac had been modified to include a French cannon and a 12-gauge shotgun on the front, a sword poking from the rear and tire slashers on the sides. Should the driver of this urban assault vehicle feel threatened, a flick of the switch could produce an oil slick or a smoke screen. Fowler claimed he had spent $30,000 and wasn't finished yet. Not to say that Supernut did not go on to great success in Tinseltown, but an Internet search finds no record of the show. But then, those Hollywood types probably changed the name of the series.
